Job Description

Woodlands is a well established family owned 900ha  arable, sheep and beef finishing farm, located 10 km north east of Masterton, predominantly rolling hills and flats. We crop approximately 200ha as well currently running 3600 breeding ewes and steers plus trade lambs.

We require an experienced stockman to work as part of our team to continue our aim to improve our farms performance with the principal responsibility being the breeding ewes along with general farm maintenance.

The successful farm applicant would need to be physically fit, honest and trustworthy with a strong work ethic and pride in their work and home surroundings.

Key responsibilities include:

*Excellent proven stockmanship and animal husbandry skills and a strong team of 4-5 trained dogs.

*Good computer skills and the keeping of thorough monthly stock records. You would need to comply with the farm assurance programmes, health and safety regulations and organise contractors as required.

* Good pasture and forage management and the ability  to plan and think ahead is important.

* Practical farm maintenance skills for conventional and electric fencing and knowledge of water systems and their maintenance is needed as part of the varied seasonal farm work.

*You would need the ability to work independently with good open communication skills and to work in conjunction with the trading side of our business when needed.
