Job Description

Every day, the team at Catalyst Performance Agronomy works closely with New Zealand’s pastoral sector to achieve extraordinary outcomes - delivering an industry-leading agronomic service that helps farmers and farm managers grow crops that deliver great commercial results. We’re side by side with them in the field delivering tailored agronomy advice on the correct seed variety, planting methods, fertilisers, and chemical controls to help them make the most from their land. Supported by our head office in Ashburton, we have regional branches in North Otago, Central Otago & Southland.

We're on the hunt for an enthusiastic Management Accountant to join our Ashburton-based administration team.

Reporting to the CFO, the Management Accountant is a vital role that combines professional accounting knowledge, comprehensive business analysis skills and an aptitude for technology to get accurate information to the right people when & where they need it.

The Management Accountant role broadly entails:

  • End to end responsibility for the end of month process, including reconciliation of GL accounts, variance analysis, and delivery of our monthly management reports
  • Running the annual budgeting process to deliver a set of fully integrated P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts
  • Producing ad-hoc & recurring reports as required by the finance, sales and management functions
  • Continual development and improvement of our reporting platforms (SuiteAnalytics and Power BI) in collaboration with our technology partners

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar discipline (CA or CPA qualification would be an advantage)
  • Five years' experience in a relevant field (e.g accounting, business analysis, reporting, budgeting and forecasting)
  • Intimate understanding of accounting concepts
  • Experience working with cloud-based ERP systems (extra points for Oracle NetSuite)
  • High level of technical capability in Excel, preferably with previous exposure to DAX/Power BI
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences on complex issues
  • High attention to detail and the capability to manage multiple parallel activities
  • Appetite for career development and a desire to make your mark on a growing and dynamic business

Why us?

Innovation is inherent in everything we do, and after years of commercial success and growth, we're still a family-owned business at heart and we treat our staff like family. As well as a competitive salary, life insurance package and professional development allowance, we offer the opportunity to explore new ideas & ways of doing things, and a supportive, collaborative environment, alongside colleagues who enjoy coming to work each day.
