Te Aute Trust Farm is 817ha of easy to medium hill country property, located 20 minutes south of Hastings in the Pukehou District. The farming operation comprises 8000 stock units, with sheep breeding / finishing, and bull finishing.
Over the last 10 years, there has been significant investment in turning the property around by developing the infrastructure and setting sound stock policies to improve the farms profitability. There is further commitment from the board to invest in continual development and on farm improvements, therefore a great time to join this business.
Reporting to a newly appointed Farm Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a low input, high production system. As the Experienced Shepherd you will work closely with the Manager as part of a small inclusive team, and your role will cover all day-to-day tasks on farm including stock work, animal health, fencing, R & M, project work, handpiece and some tractor work giving you exposure to all aspects of running the property.
The successful applicant needs to be driven and come with a strong ability to use their initiative, as the Manager is welcoming of new ideas and contributions to on farm projects. You will be supported to upskill and grow your skill base and continually be given more responsibility.

The Experienced Shepherd role comes with a competitive remuneration package including a large four-bedroom home, with fantastic views of Hastings.
