Job Description
Wellington Farms Ltd is a 720ha farm with a range of contour from flat to steep hill. The farm runs 4000 deer, 550 dairy grazers and 400 sheep and is located only 20 minutes from Te Awamutu.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 4 years stock experience
- Have a capable team of 2 x dogs under good control (will be used to get the deer in on the farm)
- Knowledge of operating farm machinery on hill country, with experience feeding out and break feeding
- Grazing management of dairy heifers and managing weight targets is preferred but not essential
- General fencing and farm maintenance skills
- Deer farming/velveting experience is preferred but not essential, the willingness to learn is
What we require from you:
- An ability to work alone and as part of a team, as required
- A can-do attitude and the desire to learn
- Have strong communication and a positive attitude towards health and safety
- Be able to maintain machinery and keep in good working order
- A full drivers licence
A 3-bedroom house is available with a school bus at the gate for both primary and secondary schools.
This is a permanent position and remuneration will be dependent on skills and experience. We work 40 - 45 hours a week with rostered every third weekend on.
