SHEEP AND BEEF HEAD SHEPHERD OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for someone either already working as or looking to move up to a Head Shepherd role . We are a 4th generation family farm of 1,100ha in the amazing farming district of Waikawa Valley, Southern Southland which offers great sporting, hunting, fishing, surfing and diving opportunities in a friendly community. Running 12,000 stock units comprising 6,800 ewes, 1,900 lambing hoggets, 150 breeding cows (including a Shorthorn Stud) and 300 fattening cattle, our farm is a mixture of river flats and rolling to steeper hills. We aim to finish all lambs.
To work in our team we would need you to:
Have at least 3- 4 years experience.
Have a minimum of 2 work dogs under good control
Be honest, reliable, observant, willing to ask questions, listen to the answers, be able to work in a team but also able to work alone. Have the right to work in New Zealand with a current full drivers licence
The experience and skills required are: Lambing, Calving, Stock work, Tractor driving using a variety of implements, fencing and general farm maintenance.
