A BIT ABOUT SEVEN HILLS FARMING…. 

Seven Hills Farming is a family-owned farming business, located just 15 minutes from Pahiatua and Eketahuna. The proud owners Bryan and Nicki Bendall run the highly successful Seven Hills Farming Angus stud; they have an on-farm bull sale in June.  

The property is 1450ha and offers a mix of contour from 200ha of flats and approximately 700ha of medium to steep hill country, there is also 500ha of Manuka. They are currently running 10,000su with a 50:50 split of Romney sheep and Angus cattle.

THE OPPORTUNITY… 

The 2IC/Stock Manager role offers an 80:20 split between stock and general work. with a variety of work covering all aspects of the day-to-day stock work and gaining valuable experience on the intricacies of a stud operation and learning about genetics. You will have the opportunity to work autonomously and be part of a team.  

A BIT ABOUT YOU… 

Along with 4-5 years of relevant experience and a passion for the industry, the successful applicant will have: 

  • Understands the fundamentals of farming 

  • A good level of stockmanship 

  • Well-controlled team of 4-6 working dogs  

  • Ability to lead a small team 

  • Have strong attention to detail & organisational skills 

  • Good numerical and verbal reasoning skills  

  • A high level of communication 

  • Good computer skills 

 

Due to the stud operation, you will require a high level of accuracy with your tagging and record-keeping, along with a strong emphasis on animal health. Ensuring the Animal Health plan is implemented and kept up to date.
