Part time Drystock

Job Description

Stock Manager – Bay of Plenty

The Farm

  • 239ha (210ha eff) dry stock finishing farm located at McLarens Falls, Lower Kaimai
  • 900 MA Ewes, 150 R1 & R2 dairy grazers and 80-90 R2 Steers
  • Well subdivided and set up for ease of management
  • Drive-in 30 hour week position

 What you need to know

  • With good subdivision dog work is limited but ideally you have one or more dogs to help you out from time to time.
  • Stock policy is a simple one with ewes mated to a terminal sire and winter trade cattle purchased as R2’s to minimise handling required.
  • The farm is a 10min drive from The Crossing, 15mins to Tauranga and 25mins to Mount Maunganui so is well located if you are living in town.
  • A number of benefits available including meat and hunting.

 Your background

  • With the owner working off-farm you will be required to carry out day-to-day tasks and on your own. This will require you to have the ability and motivation to work autonomously.
  • You will have three years or more experience working on a sheep and beef farm.
  • Experience in pasture, sheep and cattle management including management of an animal health plan.
  • An ability to complete typical repairs and maintenance tasks and have an understanding of water systems.
  • You will have strong organisation skills, planning ability and record keeping.
  • Have an open communication style.

The owner is open different options and keen to see it work for both parties. If you’re interested please reach out to Nick at or call him on 029 222 0019.
