WHERE

Rimanui Farms is a largescale farming business operating sheep and beef cattle farms across the North Island and dairy farms in Canterbury. The business includes some of New Zealand’s most iconic farms; Lochinver, Erewhon and Mangaohane. 

Whakamarumaru Station is a 1,000ha finishing farm and part of the wider Rimanui farms group, located in the Crownthorpe district, 30 minutes from Hastings. This is a high performing property with a mix of contour from hills to flats finishing 15,000 lambs from the wider business. They also finish 500 Friesian bulls per year and run a 200 Angus cow herd with all progeny sold at weaning.

Since purchasing, the property has undergone a large development project with new fencing, stock water supply, capital fertiliser and pasture improvement. Rimanui Farms are now realising the productivity gains that have come from this investment and are further fine tuning the system to maximise its potential.        

WHAT

Our client seeks someone with drive and enthusiasm to join the team as a 2IC. Duties will include the management of the bull unit with particular focus on grazing rotations, animal health and infrastructure maintenance. Also overseeing lamb finishing rotations alongside the farm manager and shepherd. There is a good mix of stock work, tractor work (feeding out, post ramming, FEL work, and some minor cultivation) as well as farm maintenance.

There will also be a requirement for the appointee to oversee the farm in the managers absence from time to time.

The successful candidate will work closely with a motivated and proactive Farm Manager who will allow for career growth and development. The business utilises modern equipment and technology to aid in decision making and fine tuning the farm system.
