Job Description

An opportunity has become available for the role of Farm Manager at Ngakoroa farm, located 17km north of Gisborne.

The 466 hectare property has until recently been run as part of a joint venture, but is now operating as a stand alone property.

The property runs approximately 3600 stock units with a sheep to cattle ratio of 30:70, consisting of 860 breeding ewes, trade cattle and lamb finishing.

Stock policies are flexible around the season and markets and the new manager is encouraged to bring fresh ideas and challenge the current system while lifting production with the support of the management team.

The property has had development completed over recent years, but there are further projects to be completed and ongoing R&M.  

The successful candidate will require:

·       To be competent in progressive farming techniques and practices

·       Experienced in stock management and animal husbandry

·       Pasture management skills and focus

·       The willingness and ability to complete R&M jobs

·       A can-do attitude, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

·       An open mind and enjoy been challenged.

 

Ngakoroa is a family owned property, with a long-term view to the future. The owners live on the property but remain committed to working fulltime off farm.
