Ongaha is 580ha of prime breeding, trading and cropping country with immaculate facilities, Renovated infrastructure and a passion for production. Located in the heart of South Wairarapa, only 10km from Martinborough, 14km from Greytown, 10km from Featherston and under an hour to Wellington. With an average rainfall of 700ml/year, we are a summer dry climate. We are looking for an experienced shepherd or someone looking to take on more responsibility in aiding the farm manager to carry out day to day tasks. This role would suit a proud individual that enjoys the production side of farming and embraces community and culture. The role consists of stock work, general maintenance and working with and alongside a variety of teams that work with us as a business.
We offer Accommodation on farm, Meat, Dog food and relevant expenses and Wet weather gear. Standard farm perks.
Job Purpose: To assist the Farm Manager in implementing all farm plans/systems for Ongaha Enterprises Limited including all aspects of stock work, tractor driving, irrigator operation, repairs and maintenance, and all other tasks relating to farming operations.
Expectations:
Be conscientious, honest, diligent. Show calm stockmanship and treat all animals humanely at all times, and at all times promote the best interests of Ongaha and its stated goals.
Ensure all communication is to a high standard. We strive to be a farm with great culture, so communication and trust are paramount.
Excellent recording skills to record appropriate activities in FarmIQ and keep a notebook for any other relevant information for future reference and reporting to management.
Abide by all Health & Safety procedures implemented by Ongaha Enterprises Ltd, and to report any observed hazards, incidents or near misses to management immediately.
