WHERE

Rimanui Farms Limited is a large-scale farming business operating sheep and cattle farms across the North Island and dairy farms in Canterbury. The business includes some of New Zealand’s most iconic farms.

Erewhon Station is located on the Napier-Taihape Road approximately 35 minutes from Taihape. The property is 3,600ha effective and carries approximately 42,000su for breeding and finishing. Although the property is well- developed with an excellent infrastructure there are some further exciting development projects in the pipeline.

The Station is bisected by the Taihape-Napier Road and bounded by the Rangitikei River to the south. It has an attractive balance of contour, with an extensive area of easy rolling land and a balance of steeper hill country. The farm experiences cold winters with occasional snow over the winter months but enjoys mild summers. 

WHAT

Following the retirement of a long-standing team member, there are now two positions available, a Fencer/General Hand and a Tractor Driver/General hand.

Both positions require experienced individuals to be able to work independently and undertake a variety of tasks from tractor operating (feeding out silage and baleage, FEL work, metalling tracks etc), spraying through to general R & M on farm including general maintenance with the yards and buildings. While both of these roles have a slightly different area of focus, they do have some cross over so a certain level of experience held in either role around machinery and fencing would be beneficial. Servicing and maintenance of the Station water system is also an important part of the role.

The machinery operator aspect of the Tractor Driver/General Hand role is mainly for general tractor work and feeding out as contractors are engaged to complete ag work.

There will also be a limited amount of stock work, helping at peak processing times such as docking and weaning as required.

WHO

  • Both of these roles will require the appointees to work independently while also being part of the wider team. While each role requires some specialist skills the following are required for both roles: Tractor and machinery operating experience, mechanically minded.
  • Understand water systems.
  • Good level of general and practical skills – welding/carpentry.
  • Ability to take pride in your work and good personal presentation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Contribute to and enjoy a larger team with a positive work culture.
  • Full driver’s licence.
