Located in Paparoa, Olgino Station is a 290hec hill country beef farm.
The farm has undergone significant improvements in the last year to become a wonderful farm with excellent infrastructure. The property is well-resourced with new cattle yards, races and a completely rebuilt water supply and storage solution. The owners provide an excellent work culture and value their people.
We are now looking for a Stock Manager to manage the day-to-day duties on the farm, expected to take about 37 hours a week.
This role involves:
· Being responsible for the livestock and farm on a day to day basis.
· Daily checking on grass, water and supplementary feeding.
· The general wellbeing of stock is a critical priority.
· Planning and implementing grazing rotations.
· Animal health and welfare, including an animal health plan, drenching etc.
· Communicating with Stock Agent regarding general stock management.
· Water reticulation – checking all troughs are not leaking and have water in them.
· Fences – Checking electric fencing for voltage, repairing if necessary to keep voltage high.
· Planning and organising the planting of additional crops – both spring and autumn crops.
· Organising surplus grass in spring into bailage (approx. 300 round bales).
· Reporting and meeting monthly with our team.
The ideal candidate will need:
· Farming experience as a farm manager or stock manager.
· To be a strong stockperson, with a good team of 2-4 working dogs.
· Their own accommodation.
· A reliable vehicle.
· Good pasture and crop management knowledge.
· To be physically fit and able.
· Strong communication skills, highly organised and well planned.
· To adhere to health and safety policies.
· A willingness and an eagerness to learn.
· The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· To pass pre-employment checks including passing a drug and alcohol test.
· The right to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ Work Visa.
