Here’s your chance to work in a long-established sheep and beef finishing farm just 15 minutes from The Crossing and close to the scenic McLaren Falls, this opportunity offers a rare blend of being able to work in a picturesque and productive setting, right on the doorstep of the sunny Bay of Plenty.

  • The farm: 235ha (210ha eff) finishing farm on the Lower Kaimai
  • Stocking Policy: 100 R2 Steers, 80 R1 Steers 200 R1 Heifers & 150 R2 Heifers and 400 MA Ewes

This is a part-time (20 - 30 hours per week), drive-in position where you’ll take charge of day-to-day operations. With the farm owner running a business off-farm, you’ll work independently with support from the owner when needed and who is always a phone call away.

As Stock Manager, your role includes all aspects of animal and pasture management. From drenching, vaccinating and docking to coordinating shearing and picking finished cattle. You'll be drafting and weighing animals, monitoring their weight gains and planning rotations to make the best use of pasture across the farm. Your eye for detail will help maintain pasture quality and your planning will drive optimal animal performance.

You’ll track stock movements, treatments, and weights and ensure all NAIT, ASD and compliance requirements are met. You’ll also record pasture performance, contributing to the wider decision-making and farm planning process.

General farm maintenance is part of the role too. You’ll help keep water systems running smoothly, ensure fences and yards are in good working order, and carry out basic repairs or improvements as they come up.

The role requires someone who is confident working independently and communicates well with the farm owner. You’ll provide regular updates on farm progress, flag issues early, and occasionally supervise casual staff or contractors when extra help is needed.

If you're looking for a flexible role that works with your lifestyle and keeps you connected to the land, this could be it.
