Job Description

Te Kumu Station is currently seeking a shepherd in the central North Island. Te Kumu is a family owned 4000 ha effective sheep, beef and deer farm. It is a breeding and finishing operation running approximately 17,000 Romney ewes, 450 breeding cows, 300 breeding hinds, plus their progeny and 1200 brought in steers.

Applicants are required to have:

* A minimum of two years shepherding experience.

* Understanding of grazing management and animal health.

* A competent team of at least 3 working dogs.

 * Must have good stockmanship skills.

* A strong work ethic and the ability to communicate well.

* Accurate record keeping and ability to report on stock and feed as required. 

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a team environment, working alongside the farm manager and five other permanent staff, but must be reliable and capable of working unsupervised and independently too.

This is a full-time permanent position with an immediate start. Salary is negotiable depending on experience. 

A three bedroom quarters will be supplied. Te Kumu is located between Hunterville and Taihape, 30 minutes from either town, both have squash and rugby clubs etc. and there is also hunting on the property.
