We are seeking a passionate stock manager to join our team due to our current stock manager progressing to a farm managers job elsewhere.
Otawhao is an 1100 hectare (910ha effective) sheep and beef farming operation with a mix of flat, rolling and hill country. Winter stock numbers are approximately 280 Angus breeding cows, 50 R2yr incalf heifers, 200 carryover dairy cows, 400-600 R1 & R2 cattle, 4500-5000 breeding ewes, 1000 in lamb hoggets and 600 dry hoggets. We also grow maize and peas.
We seek to run a sustainable, productive and profitable business and give people opportunities to grow and progress. We have an ongoing development plan including subdivision, soil fertility, drainage and cropping rotations. We are also in the process of building a new main set of sheepyards. If you are an energetic person who is passionate about livestock farming, then we would love to have you as part of our team. Working alongside the manager and fencer/general, your main role will be to drive the livestock performance of our business. You will be an excellent stockperson, with a sound understanding of the livestock feeding and animal health requirements needed to achieve high stock performance. Having a broad range of general farm skills and being keen to learn will also be key elements to your success in this role.
You will need:
· 4-6 working dogs under good command
• Attention to detail including accurate record keeping (we use Resolution)
• Enjoy creating a tidy work environment
• An honest, reliable and positive attitude
· Self-motivated

It will also include a production based bonus system on top of your competitive salary. A comfortable 4 bedroom house is available on the farm. Hunting and fishing are available on the property. We are located 20 minutes from Pahiatua, 25 minutes from Dannevirke and 40 minutes from Palmerston North, with Kumeroa primary and intermediate school 10 minutes away.
