Nosswick is a 1000ha irrigated prime lamb operation in the Cressy district of northern Tasmania. We are looking for an experienced stockman to join our family run business. The farm focuses on the production and finishing of approx. 15,000 prime lambs each year across both irrigated and dry land pastures across two properties.
We are seeking applicants who are proactive, conscientious people who are physically fit and have a good work ethic. The position has a strong sheep focus, owning well controlled working dogs is essential. Situated 35 minutes from Launceston, 20 minutes from Longford we are close to services, community activities and sporting clubs. Local accommodation provided.
The position reports to the Farm Manager and will:
· Assist in day-to-day operations involved in the breeding, finishing and general animal health of livestock.
· Assist in day-to-day operations involved in cropping, including cultivation, fertiliser and chemical application, and maintenance of irrigation equipment.
Key Responsibilities
· Daily monitoring and handling of stock to ensure their health and well-being.
· Mustering, drafting, vaccinating, drenching, weighing and general livestock movement.
· Assisting with lambing, weaning, and shearing operations as required.
· Maintaining accurate records of livestock numbers, health treatments, and movements.
Applicants must:
· Must have proven experience as a stockperson and be able to operate a range of machinery.
· Possess an attention to detail in all aspects of farming operations.
· Have knowledge in pasture grazing/assessing techniques (scope for training in this area).
· Be able to keep accurate records - Agriwebb (training provided).
· Capable of planning and managing daily tasks.
· Work independently or in a team environment
· Must have current drivers licence.
· Adhere to and cultivate an environment based on safe working practices and OH&S regulations.
· Chem Cert, ATV and chainsaw training an advantage but not essential. On the job training will be provided to the right person.
