WHERE

Rimanui Farms Limited is a large-scale farming business operating four dairy farms and a runoff block in the Hororata region of Canterbury. The farms have been extensively developed and are managed by a high-performing team of Farm Managers, supported by a Business Manager. The company also runs sheep and beef cattle farms across the North Island.

This 250ha Hororata dairy unit winters 1,000 cows and milks 950, supported by full irrigation and the potential to grow up to 19 tonnes of feed per hectare. It has strong infrastructure, including new races, an automated 60-bale rotary shed, and operates under the Synlait Lead with Pride programme, requiring accurate and timely recording and reporting.                                                                                       

WHAT

As the Farm Manager you’ll oversee the day-to-day operation of this dairy unit and play a key role within Rimanui Farms Ltd’s wider dairy business. You’ll work within established policies, processes, and production targets, supported by the Business Manager, and will need strong attention to detail and a commitment to best-practice farming.

The role requires solid pasture-management skills, regular farm walks, and accurate reporting under the Synlait Lead with Pride programme. You’ll manage environmental compliance, they use Allflex collars for animal-health and mating monitoring and demonstrate strong cow and staff-management abilities to maintain a positive and productive team environment.

WHO

Our client is looking for a skilled and motivated Farm Manager to lead their dairy operations, drive best-practice farming, and support a high-performing team. The below are also key to success in this role:

  • Must have excellent stock management, particular with larger herds.
  • Open to learning, flexible and adaptable.
  • Strong with pasture management, 20ha fodder beet on farm.
  • Strong with communication both up and down, verbal and written.
  • Good level of computer literacy, accuracy with reports.
  • Have a good understanding of staff management and HR requirements, with 5 staff through calving and then down to 4 after calving.
