$50,000 - $60,000 yearly
  • Senlac Station
  • Feb 02, 2020
Full time Drystock

Job Description

Senlac station is 1000ha of predominately gentle rolling country based 10 minutes from Porangahau and 35 minutes from Waipukurau in Central Hawke's Bay. We’re running approx 10,000su made up of 60% sheep, 30% cattle and 10% deer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tractor and digger driving
  • Fencing (mainly R&M)
  • Water reticulation
  • Helping in yards including helping to take mobs away and basic stock shifts

Examples of some upcoming projects that you’d be involved in:

  • Fencing off waterways and planting of natives
  • 100 ha of new grass to put in this autumn using our Taege direct drill and 155hp tractor
  • Feeding of silage over winter to cattle
  • Helping the builder to design and build covered yards
  • Metalling of tracks and laneways

The owners live on one side of the farm and you the other, so we’re looking for someone who is happy to work independently.  There’s never a dull moment and you will enjoy a role with plenty of variety.  We value hard work, but we also believe that you should never ask your staff to do something you wouldn’t do yourself. We use Cloud Farmer to manage our farm records, meaning you will have all farm information at your fingertips and you will be expected to contribute to this daily (it’s really easy to use).  A couple of dogs including one that can be used in the yards would be of benefit in the role.

On offer is a good salary in reflection of your experience and the value you will add to our business. Also a 4 bedroom, open plan, warm house that has been recently renovated (new carpet is next project) and has amazing views out over the farm. Porangahau is known for being a friendly community with a pub, dairy, sports and fishing clubs, playcentre and primary school and this would be a great position for someone who wants to make this their home.
