Bruce and Liz Tuanui have a 4000 acre farm based on the Chatham Islands, it runs along 9km of stunning coast line and backs onto a nature reserve gifted to the crown in the 1970s. The Tuanui’s run a sheep and beef operation with 2500 breeding ewes and
200 breeding cows. They own 340 acres of finishing land in Hawks Bay where all stock are shipped to from the Chathams. The Tuanui’s also run a private conservation group could the Taiko trust. This small organisation is a global leader in conservation work and is only the second place in the world to transfer albatross. See Taiko.org.nz the farm also consists of two fully enclosed predator free areas when a lot of the projects take place.
Bruce and Liz are currently looking for a passionate and driven person/persons to help run the farm with the potential for the right people to move into management. Successful candidates will need good skills and knowledge in the following areas. Sheep work, mustering, crutching, animal heath. Cattle handling experience. Fencing skills. Machinery skills and experience.
The right persons will need to be self motivated, use initiative and have a problem solving attitude.
