Homewood Station (operating as Kaiwhata Farm) is looking for an experienced Senior Shepherd that has had at least 2+ previous experience on a sheep and beef property, with a proven team of working dogs.
The job entails a balance of stock work and general farm work (fencing, general maintenance etc). The applicant must be able to:

The current team comprises the farm owner, infrastructure/cropping manager, stock manager and a junior shepherd. 3 bedroom accommodation is provided, shared with one other shepherd. Shepherd.
Homewood, a 2,400ha property (1650ha eff) on the picturesque Wairarapa Coast 50 minutes from Masterton, comprises 500ha of cropable land, with the remaining effective ha being easy hill country. There is also 650ha of native bush and 90ha of pines.
The farm winters approximately 17,000su comprising 60% sheep and 40% cattle with a mixture of breeding and finishing. All home bred stock are finished on the property and a trade component is incorporated into the farm policy for both sheep and cattle
Infrastructure comprises two woolsheds (one 6 stand, one 5 stand), both with covered yards, two sets of cattle yards and 6 sets of satellite sheep yards. The farm has a stud sheep flock comprising 1000 ewes, which are EID tagged.
The local surrounding community has a strong rugby club and dog trial club. Riversdale Beach (12 minute drive) has a nine hole golf course, a surf club and a general store. The property itself has opportunities for hunting fishing and diving. There are also several young shepherds working/living on neighbouring properties.
