We are excited to bring this Farm Manager role to the market. Our client is looking to hire a Farm Manager for their Arable farm based in Lincoln, just 30 minutes from Christchurch. With approximately 950 staff, spread across 14 New Zealand locations, this well-established company conducts research that adds value to fruit, vegetable, crop, and food products.

THE OPPORTUNITY…

As the Farm Manager, you will be responsible for the 180ha cropping farm with both a commercial and science base. This farm is an extensive research farm that is used for a diverse range of trials. It needs to be run as a commercial farm whilst also providing services back to clients (science staff). 

You will be responsible for full farm oversight and day to day management including;

  • Leadership and supervision of farm staff, contractors and seasonal staff whilst collaborating with science leaders and technical teams
  • Reviewing applications for farm use and land consents
  • Preparing annual income and expenditure reports
  • Maintaining farm machinery and equipment
  • Environmental Management – land consents, FEMPs, nutrient budgets and water consents
  • On farm Health and Safety

A BIT ABOUT YOU…

To be successful in this role you will have a strategic and practical mind, with the ability to work across day to day planning, maintenance and leadership of farm activities. You will bring your extensive general crop husbandry and management experience, as well as your skills in strategic farm planning, financial management, reporting, and health and safety. Excellent communication and leadership skills are a must, as you will lead and supervise farm staff, contractors and seasonal workers.
