Job Description

Are you someone who is passionate about getting outdoors? Do you love working in nature, have good practical farming skills and want to work on the land? Then this dry stock 2IC role could be for you!


We are looking for a 2IC to be a part of our dry stock team. The farm is a 720ha dry stock farm in Te Awamutu, running 14,000 stock units made up of 4000 deer, 700 dairy grazers and 400 sheep.


Your day-to-day work could include grazing management, break feeding and feeding out along with the opportunity to expand your deer experience or working the hills moving stock.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Grazing management of dairy heifers and managing weight targets
  • Knowledge of operating farm machinery on hill country, with experience feeding out and break feeding
  • General fencing and farm maintenance skills
  • Deer farming/velveting experience is preferred but not essential, the willingness to learn is
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team

  • Be honest and reliable
  • Have strong communication and a positive attitude towards health & safety
  • Have a good level of fitness and take pride in achieving goals
  • Be able to maintain machinery and keep in good working order
  • Have a capable team of 2 x dogs under good control
  • A full drivers licence


The farm is located 20 minutes south of Te Awamutu. We offer a 3-bedroom house with school bus at the gate for both primary and secondary schools.


Due to border restrictions, we are only able to consider candidates currently residing in New Zealand with full work eligibility, or those that are returning home to NZ.
