Big Hill Station is a 2,500Ha hill country sheep and beef farm in Hawkes Bay. The property is located 45 minutes out of Hastings, with the Ruahine ranges and Ngaruroro River as it’s western and northern boundaries. The contour of the farm ranges from medium to steep hill country a small proportion of easily cultivatable land and around 600Ha of native bush. The operation also includes 2 other blocks in the Maraekakaho district. These are of easier contour that add an additional 650Ha.
Currently, at big hill, we are running 4,000 Romney ewes and 330 Angus cows. The main focus of the operation is on sheep production with all homebred lambs finished on farm. To add to this there is a large lamb trading and finishing component as well as finishing fresian bulls.
