Farmhand or farm assistant
Northland, New Zealand
Green & keen to learn with a strong work ethic, minimal experience, patience required.
30 year old woman seeking full-time work for approximately 5 months until mid February 2027. Enrolled in Telford's Farming Systems & Equipment (Level 3) course. Would also consider x2 part-time roles if the farm blocks are close enough.
Grew up on the Tutukaka Coast, previously dabbled in farming: milk harvesting, cattle yard work (vaccinating/drenching R1s & R2s), tube feeding bobby calves. Relief milked in the mornings before driving an hour to complete an introductory to dairy farming course years ago (2014), however unfortunately it mostly only covered chainsaw use practicum. We didn't really have access to a decent tractor & barely did any fencing, setting up of break fencing or maintenance of water systems etc. Used to be competent on dirt bikes just a bit rusty.
Coming from a background in FOH hospitality as a restaurant duty manager, capable of working hard, for long shifts (10-16 hours).
Loves the outdoors & animals, physically fit, punctual (likes being early), disciplined (trained for track athletics racing for years), health & safety conscious, honest, bubbly, conscientious, enjoys both the company of working as a team & working independently, willing to apply perseverance, intending on attaining new skills with plenty to learn to eventually become a dry stock farmer/shepherd. Would be thrilled to start learning to work heading dogs/huntaways and exposure to horses and/or locals who are into hunting would be a bonus.
