Dome Hills is a family owned and operated sheep and beef farm located 45 minutes inland from Oamaru, near Dansey’s Pass. Dome Hills is 6,271ha in size with an additional 181ha currently leased, and winters 25,000 stock units.
This year we will winter at the station 7,200 Headwaters ewes and 500 Hereford Angus breeding cows. The successful applicant will live at our 240ha run-off in Tokarahi where 1,800 cattle are being wintered. The third farm we operate is leased, also in Tokarahi, where we finish lambs on chicory as part of the Te Mana lamb program. Over the years pasture has been developed to enable us to finish all of our lambs, with around half of our weaned calves also kept for later sale.
