Trees and Bees

  • Murchison, New Zealand

We have a vacancy for a beekeeper starting in August/September.
This is a full time job and the successful applicant must be hard working, physically fit, honest and reliable, with good common sense and plenty of practical skills.
Experience in beekeeping would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be given. An H.T. license would be an advantage and a clean driving history.

Duties will include preparing hives for honey flows, honey harvesting, extracting honey, moving hives, assembling bee gear, packing and labelling honey, apiary maintenance and any other jobs that are required over the season. There may be some over night stays required, but mostly the beekeepers travel to the apiaries every day.

We would like to offer the successful applicant an apprenticeship in Apiculture through Primary ITO. https://www.primaryito.ac.nz/courses-for-you/horticulture/apiculture/

The position is based in Murchison, which is in the Tasman area. Murchison is well known for it's white water rivers and national parks.

Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

We have a friendly team environment looking after the bees (around 2200 hives), and if you think you could be part of that I'd love to hear from you.
