Senior Supervisor - Stockyards
The Client
My client is an established global leader and 100% locally owned. With a history of over seventy years, they are specialists in the food procuring and processing sector. They have customers in over 50 countries worldwide. They pride themselves on having a strong reputation for food excellence and observing high animal welfare standards.
The Role
As Senior Supervisor - Stockyards, you will be based at their Lorneville plant in Invercargill. You will be reporting to the Production Manager -Slaughter Board and Co Products. As a member of the supervisory team, you will be an integral part of the ongoing growth and profitability for the wider business.
Your key responsibilities will include:
people leadership ( promoting team morale and inter team collaboration)
resource management for all the stockyard activity
involvement in planning and scheduling
financial management including assisting with developing annual departmental plans and budgets
managing and monitoring operating expenses within agreed budgets
ensuring consistent stock flow and continuity with slaughter board
maintaining existing risk management programme (identifying areas of concern, monitoring /minimising)
regular reporting to management
promoting health and safety best practice and ensuring staff maintain a high standard at all times
overseeing and ensuring all company policies and compliance requirements by complying with statutory and legal obligations

Proven track record leading and managing teams (able to create a high performing team)
Previous experience working in stockyards (handling livestock -preferable sheep, lamb and calves)
Knowledge of NZ Animal Welfare legislation and requirements
Experience with setting and monitoring targets and working with KPIs
Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Confident implementing change and enhancing productivity
Have a Health and Safety focus and comprehensive working knowledge
