Tractor driver/General

Matarae Station is a family owned and operated property situated in the iconic Strath Taieri Valley, 10 minutes from Middlemarch and 50 minutes from Dunedin.  Matarae is a 6000ha property, which has recently undergone extensive development and infrastructure improvements. The property runs both Merino and Romney flocks’ cattle and deer. We are looking for a competent tractor driver to join our team, someone who also possesses the ability to take on general duties.

The successful applicant will preferably have experience with a range of modern agricultural equipment and basic mechanical knowledge. The role will primarily consist of tractor work, with 800 ha of the property being cultivated for winter crops, cereals and new pastures annually.

Key attributes required:

·       Competent with all farm machinery and tractors specifically cultivation and drilling.

·       A sound mechanical knowledge and previous experience would be an advantage.

·       Be able to add value with seasonal planning within the existing team.

·       Work independently as well as in a team.

·       Conscientious, honest, trustworthy, reliable and take pride in looking after equipment.

·       Have an understanding of health and safety regulations and demonstrate good work practises.

·       Have a current full NZ drivers licence.

·       Have NZ residency.

 

General farm duties include but are not limited to:

·       Feeding out to stock

·       Fencing and maintenance

·       Shifting irrigation

·       Assisting with stock when required

 

We offer a comfortable 4-bedroom house with a primary school bus at the gate (Strath Taieri primary school in Middlemarch) and a secondary school bus available to Taieri College in Mosgiel, a competitive remuneration package will be offered based on experience.
