The Wilcox group of companies is a 3rd generation family owned business which  has been part of the NZ vegetable industry since the 1940’s and became a NZ Limited company in April 1954.   The core function of the business is to grow, pack and market root crop vegetables both domestically and around the world, thus describing itself as a vertically integrated produce business. 

The export business is focused on onions and carrots.   The products are marketed under the group’s export arm Southern Fresh Produce (SoFresh).  The domestic fresh business supplies the major supermarket chains throughout New Zealand.

The company has 200 permanent employees and this number is supported in the busy harvesting and export seasons by up to 150 seasonal workers.

Growing operations are centered in Kaitaia in the North, the greater Franklin area, Matamata in the Waikato and Ohakune. 

Packing facilities  are operated at the Union Road site in Pukekohe which services the North Island domestic market and  the South Island is serviced by a smaller packing facility in Rakaia.
