Lochinver Station

Lochinver Station is one of New Zealand’s largest and most iconic pastoral properties, located on State Highway 5 about 25 km from Taupō, on the Rangitāiki Plains in the central North Island. The farm covers 13,843 ha (with around 9,500 ha effective for production) and is renowned for its sheep and beef breeding and finishing operations. The property is capable of wintering more than 100,000 stock units, with operations split across two main blocks:

  • Otamatea Block – 2,500 ha of intensive farmland that includes a sheep stud, lamb finishing program, an efficient bull beef finishing system, and dairy grazing operations.

  • Lochinver Block – 7,000 ha carrying approximately 27,000 ewes and 2,500 beef breeding cows.

  • Together the blocks have  6,000 ha of cultivatable land, three airstrips, 22 staff houses, a recreation centre, an extensive network of pumice roads, multiple cattle yards, woolsheds, and a large recreational hunting block. It is managed by Rimanui Farms Ltd., a leading New Zealand pastoral operator specialising in large-scale sheep, beef, and forestry assets.
