Bennetts Hill Farming is a 1,250 hectare sheep and beef breeding/finishing operation. 

It is split between Omahu (700ha) and Rangitumau (550ha).

The farm owners run Rangitumau and a Farm Manager and a shepherd run Omahu. Labour is shared for the big jobs.

Livestock comprises 4,000 high performing breeding ewes, 1,200 lambing ewe hoggets, 170 breeding cows, 600 trade cattle plus a lamb trading component. 1,200 of the breeding ewes are a fully recorded stud flock using DNA technology for parentage.

Bennetts Hill Farming – Shepherd Omahu is a high performing 700 hectare breeding/finishing operation located less than 10 minutes east of Masterton in the Wainuioru district. Omahu is one of two farms owned by Bennetts Hill Farming. Omahu’s current farming system comprises of a high performing breeding ewe flock plus lamb and cattle finishing. Half the breeding ewes are a fully recorded stud flock using DNA technology. We are looking for a shepherd who will work in conjunction with the supportive farm manager to run Omahu. The role is predominantly stock work but with some fencing and maintenance to add variety.   The ideal applicant will have a positive attitude, be hard working, and keen to be part of a good team. We can be pretty flexible on your level of experience but 2-3 well broken dogs under good control and experience with quad bikes is essential.
