About us.
Carter Farming, is operated by Shaun and Kate Carter based 4km up the beautiful Mangaotaki road, just outside the village of Piopio.
We operate and intensive sheep and beef farming system encompassing, sheep breeding and lamb finishing, Cattle breeding, Once bred heifer system and Bull beef finishing.
Our farming business has been previously recognized in the Balance Farm Environment awards and Silver Ferns Plate to Pasture awards.
A veterinarian practice based on farm runs along side the farming business.
The property covers 670ha effective and winters around 7500su.
The Role.
- We are seeking a fit, passionate farming personality to assist with the day to day operation of the farm.
Key attributes
- Applicants should have a minimum of 2-3 years work experience or a strong background in the sheep and beef industry.
- You should have an active interest in developing your management skills in the sheep and beef sector.
- You must have a minimum of 2-3 working dogs under good control.
- Possess a familiarity with the basic concepts of feed budgeting, rotational grazing and stock feed requirements and animal health.
- The ability to identify and complete basic farm maintenance in a tidy and timely manner.
- A safe history of farm vehicle operation including 4 wheelers and side by sides.
- Farm tractor experience such as feeding out and topping is preferred but not essential.
- Accurate record keeping is essential.
- Respect and care for plant, machinery and display a general tidiness in your daily routine.
The Role.
Predominantly working alongside the farm owner, the role and responsibilities will be tailored to the experience of the successful applicant.
You will be involved in all aspects of the day to day running of the farm and have sole charge in the absence of the owners.

A new 2 bedroom home and garage.
