Shepherd General required for Castledowns Farming situated in Tasman.
This 870ha farm consists of mainly rolling hills, carrying 8500 su. It is a breeding and finishing operation running sheep, beef and deer.
We require a motivated person with plenty of common sense, prepared to be involved with all aspects of daily farming operations and to work at the direction of the manager. This position is long term and can be tailored to suit applicant but previous experience on a NZ farm essential, tractor experience and fencing skills and 1-2 working dogs would be advantageous. This position could also suit someone wishing to advance their farming career.
Applicants need to be organised, honest and show self-responsibility.
Three bedroom house available. Primary and secondary schools in close proximity.
Remuneration package based on experience.
Valid current NZ residency and current driver’s license required.

FARM MANAGER required for 870 ha 9000su sheep, beef and deer farm.
This opportunity arises because after 9 years of developing and improving our farm, our wonderful farm manager with our full support and encouragement moves to a larger property and challenge.
This position would suit either a farm manager or a capable person who we can assist and encourage to move through a stock manager’s role to their first farm manager’s position with support and training available.
Castletown Farms has had a period of intensive development and investment, so an opportunity exists for right person to consolidate and add their mark to our farming operation which we are passionate about while advancing their own farming career.
We have strong relationships with key service providers which will support the successful applicant in their day-to-day operations. This includes the benefits of long-term loyalty with a meat processing company, very capable baleage, ground working and fertiliser suppliers / contractors and agronomy and vet assistance.
The successful applicant would need to:
Own dogs and experience with machinery essential. Three-bedroom house on farm is included.
Being the closest larger farm to Nelson (18 km to Richmond) it is a great location for education, possible off farm employment for partner and all the benefits (including fishing, recreation etc.) that a region and community like Nelson provides.
Excellent primary school 5km away. Bus to a choice of 5 very good high schools.
Renumeration negotiable to experience.
