$75,000 - $85,000 yearly

Job Description

About Cora Lynn Station:

Cora Lynn is a 1600 hectare high country station located in the upper Waimakariri Valley. The property integrates pastoral farming with tourism, native forest carbon and nature protection.

The Role:

This is a unique opportunity to take the next step in your farming career on a small-scale high country property. The ideal candidate will be flexible and innovative with a hands-on approach.

Working closely with farm owners, the stock manager will take responsibility for day-to-day stock management, be closely involved in wider farm operations, and contribute to long-term property improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective livestock and operational management in close coordination with farm owners.
  • Delivering regular 90 minute ‘farm trips’ for visitors, consisting of working dog displays, blade shearing demonstrations, and engaging commentary on fine wool and farm life.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with contractors, casual staff, the associated tourism operation, and other relevant persons.
  • Ensuring infrastructure is tidy and well-maintained, while contributing to long term property improvement.
  • Keeping accurate farm records to ensure compliance with relevant regulation, compliance and industry requirements.
  • Undertaking day-to-day farm activities in a manner consistent with the property’s nature and landscape protection values.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Have an excellent work ethic, innovative mindset, and well-honed organisational skills.
  • Enjoy working independently, and as part of a small team.
  • Be experienced in practical sheep and beef farming with a strong understanding of stock performance, animal health, and pasture management.
  • Be an excellent communicator ready to embrace the role’s farm-tourism responsibilities.
  • Share a passion for pastoral farming and the natural values of the high country.
  • Have a desire to grow their skills and contribute to the property’s long-term success.
  • Bring a capable team of working dogs.
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand/be a resident and hold a full driver’s licence

What we offer:

  • Competitive remuneration commensurate with experience.
  • Modern, comfortable home on the property.
  • The opportunity to live and work in a unique location, alongside Arthur’s Pass National Park, but only 90 minutes from Christchurch.
  • The chance to contribute to innovative high country land management – apply your farming skills and grow your understanding of agritourism, practical nature conservation, and native-forest carbon.
  • Personal and professional growth in a supportive family-owned farming environment.
