Job Description

Nithdale Station is a diverse and progressive farming operation running stud sheep, commercial sheep,
beef cattle, and dairy grazing. The farm operates as a high-performance and well-organised system focused on strong stockmanship, animal health, and pasture utilisation.
We operate with a small, capable team where communication, responsibility, and pride in stock work is
highly valued.
We are seeking a Senior Shepherd / Shepherd General who takes pride in their dogs, their stock work, and maintaining high standards across the farm.

The Role
This is a hands-on shepherding role within a diverse and intensive farming business. The successful
applicant will be involved in all aspects of livestock management across the property.
The role will involve working closely with the Operations Manager and Stock Manager, contributing to the day-to-day management of stock and farm operations.
• General stock work across sheep and cattle
• Mustering and dog work
• Animal health treatments
• Supporting stud and commercial livestock operations
• Maintaining high standards of stockmanship
• Contributing positively to the farm team
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking someone with solid shepherding experience who enjoys working in a well-organised and
performance-focused farming system.
• At least 2–3 well-trained working dogs
• Previous shepherding experience
• Good stockmanship and animal handling skills
• A strong work ethic and reliable attitude
• The ability to work well within a team
• Full NZ driver’s licence
• Current New Zealand residency or the legal right to work in New Zealand
