Experienced Shepherd- Te Paenga Station
One of our valued team members has recently accepted a Stock Manager position, creating an opportunity for an Experienced Shepherd to join our team.
Te Paenga is a breeding station located south of Raetihi on the Parapara Road and is one of the farms within the Ātihau Whanganui Incorporation.
Te Paenga is a 3,500 ha (2530 ha effective) breeding property, with young stock transferred to other farms within the group at weaning.
The farm runs 800 Angus cows and 10,500 Romney ewes across a good mix of country that will provide plenty of opportunity for quality dog work.
About the Role
This position will suit someone with a strong interest in livestock and stockmanship who enjoys working as part of a team in a large-scale farming operation.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 3+ years experience working as a Shepherd
- A competent team of working dogs
- Confident and capable on a horse
- A strong work ethic and good stock sense
- A positive attitude and willingness to help with all aspects of the farm, including R&M (repairs and maintenance) when stock work is quieter.
