Stock Manager

We are seeking a capable and motivated Stock Manager to join a fun team near Middlemarch, Otago. This role suits an experienced stock person looking to grow within a progressive farming business. The role offers the opportunity to merge leading genetics, livestock technologies and capable people to produce products that you can be proud of. This is an opportunity where the Stock Manager can focus on the best parts of sheep and beef farming – caring for and managing livestock and people, whilst building capability in adjacent areas such as business, agronomy and environmental management.

The Wandle is 2,500ha running approximately 16,000 stock units. The farm spans from tussock country on the Rock and Pillar Range through to productive river flats along the Taieri River. It is a well-developed and well-maintained property, combining breeding systems (including a sheep stud) with multiple finishing enterprises. The business is forward-thinking, with excellent infrastructure and clear direction. About the Role

You will take responsibility for the livestock enterprises and lead the livestock team. The role requires practical capability and flexibility. Support will be provided to develop any areas where further growth is needed.

Key responsibilities:

·         Leading and managing a team of four livestock staff

·         Implementing the farm’s plan alongside the Manager and Maintenance Manager

·         Maintaining accurate records (Farm IQ)

·         Feed budgeting and planning

·         Forecasting feed supply and making stock trading decisions

·         Coordinating with contractors and external support

About You

You are organised and energetic, and bring a positive, steady presence to the team. You will have:

·         Experience in feed management

·         Confidence or interest in using livestock technology

·         Good communication skills

·         Experience and interest in developing people

·         Commitment to health and safety best practice

·         A focus on promoting a positive team culture
