Arohiwi Station is seeking a motivated and open-minded individual to play a key role in a high-performing farming business.

You will oversee a team of 2 staff members, handling diverse tasks and responsibilities with opportunities for learning, growth, and contributing to the station's success.

About the role

In this role, you will support your team's growth and contribute to the success of our business.

The responsibilities include:

  • Leading and motivating a team of people.
  • Planning and carrying out the day-to-day operational aspects of the stock and pastoral management.
  • Supporting the Farm Supervisor in planning farming operations.
  • Recording and managing farm data.
  • Driving innovation and improving processes to optimise farm performance.

We require the successful applicant to bring a current full driver’s licence and a reliable team of working dogs.

What skills/attribute you'll bring:

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build strong professional connections with your team, the Farm Supervisor and governance.
  • A passion for animal welfare, pasture management, and planning.
  • Leadership skills with a strong commitment to mentoring, training, and supporting staff.
  • High motivation, efficiency, and commitment to safety.
  • The ability to competently use systems such as Farmax and Farm IQ. Experience is preferred, but training will be available for the right candidate.

The Farm

Arohiwi Station is a highly regarded sheep and beef farm located in the scenic Puketitiri District, approximately 56km northwest of Napier. Set across 1,471 hectares of easy to rolling hill country, the farm offers a fantastic rural lifestyle in a beautiful and well-established farming area.

The station operates a breeding and finishing system, currently running around 400 breeding cows and 4,300 ewes, with replacement stock and a cattle trading component.
