Rangitikei Limited Partnership is seeking a motivated Stock Manager for Makaraka Station, a large scale 800 hectare beef finishing farm. Makaraka's current farming system incorporates beef finishing and dairy grazers, and includes the use of Halter collar technology.
Makaraka is one of four farm properties owned by Rangitikei Limited Partnership on the fertile Rangitikei river terraces, just south of Hunterville. The farm is split across three river terraces and has a flat (70%) to medium hill (30%) contour with 139 hectares under irrigation, split between three center pivot irrigators.
This Stock Manager position presents a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a supportive Farm Manager who encourages growth, and where you will be exposed to all aspects of a well-established farming business. The stock manager will assist the Farm Manager with the day-to-day operations of the property, with a 70:30 split between stock work and tractor/general work, providing variety.
The properties are managed by Primary Partners, a sheep, beef, dairy, and forestry asset management company, providing the successful candidate with opportunities for Farm Management roles within the group over time.
We are seeking a motivated Stock Manager with experience in stock finishing and general skills in fencing, machinery, and maintenance. You should have at least 2 trained working dogs.
The ideal applicant will have a common-sense, can-do attitude and strive to be the best. Attention to detail is vital. You must also be honest, reliable, and willing to become a valuable team member.
Makaraka is a spectacular property with 8km of Rangitikei river frontage, offering great opportunities for trout fishing, swimming, and camping. The farm also offers good deer hunting.
Hunterville offers a strong rural community and plenty of recreational opportunities, including the Shepherd Shemozzle in October. There are local sports clubs, including rugby, squash, tennis, hockey, netball, and pony club.
There are opportunities for partners to work within the business (i.e., calf rearing, milking), and being 5 minutes from Hunterville and 10 minutes from Marton, there may also be other work opportunities in the nearby townships.
We offer high standard accommodation and a competitive salary package, depending on experience.
