SHEPHERD GENERAL - Sheep & Beef Breeding & Finishing
We are looking for an experienced Shepherd / Shepherd General to join our family farming business. The property is a 630 ha Sheep and Beef breeding block located near Kimbolton, approximately 30 mins north of Feilding.
The farm is easy to medium hill country with some steeper areas, wintering approximately 2800 ewes, 1000 hogget replacements (also mated) and 200 Angus Breeding Cows.
The role would entail 70/30 split between stock work and general maintenance duties such as fencing mainly, spraying and scrub cutting depending on the time of year.
The ideal candidate would have the following
- A positive attitude with a strong work ethic
- 2 or 3 years experience on farms of similar class
- A team of 3 or 4 working dogs under good control
- Great stock sense and confidence working with both cattle and sheep
- Good level of physical fitness
- Confident on both four and two wheeled motorbikes
- Ability to work mainly in a small team or autonomously
- Ability to listen, problem solve and have pride in their work
You would be reporting to and working alongside the farm manager, who will support your development and ensure a collaborative & fun working environment.
