Glenburn Station – Experienced Shepherd General

Glenburn Station is one of four stations owned by the REDA group. REDA, Italian-based, are one of the leading brands in the merino textile industry. Located at the head of Lake Benmore, Glenburn Station is just 5 minutes from Omarama and 30 minutes from Twizel. The property comprises 360ha of pivot irrigated land alongside 360ha of dryland flats and hill country. It operates as a finishing block, finishing approximately 15,000–20,000 lambs annually and trading around 450 beef cattle.

Due to our current shepherd progressing into a block manager role, an exciting opportunity has become available for an Experienced Shepherd General to join our team. You will work alongside the station manager in a small, motivated, and supportive team environment, while also being confident working independently. This role is primarily focused on stock work, with some general farm and maintenance duties as required. The successful applicant will be based on farm in a modern 1-bedroom cottage.

What you need to bring to the table:

  • A minimum 2 years’ shepherding experience.
  • Are confident and competent working with sheep and cattle on a daily basis.
  • A minimum of 2 capable working dogs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and energy suited to a fast-paced farming environment.
