General Farm Hand – Riverina Farms. Waitotara, South Taranaki

Job Description

The opportunity: 
Riverina Farms is seeking an experienced and motivated General Farm Hand to join our team on a 1,100-hectare sheep, beef and cropping operation located in the Waitotara area, approximately 35km from Whanganui. 
 
The farm consists of four blocks within a 10km radius and features predominantly flat, easy contour country. Our farming operations include cattle finishing, grazing dairy support stock, lamb finishing, and cropping. We utilise a Halter system for cattle management and are continually looking to improve efficiency and productivity. 
 
In addition, the farm supports our 750-cow dairy operation through wintering dairy cows and grazing replacement heifers, providing a diverse range of stock classes and farming activities throughout the year. 
 
We use the Resolution farm management app for all farm records, stock movements and operational planning, helping us maintain accurate records and run an efficient farming business.

What you will be doing: 
• General stock work with cattle and sheep 
• Tractor driving and feeding out 
• Shifting and managing stock using the Halter system 
• General repairs and maintenance 
• Fencing and water system maintenance 
• Assisting with cropping operations 
• Working as part of a small, dedicated team 
 
About you: 
• Minimum 5 years' practical farming experience 
• 2–3 good working dogs 
• Strong stockmanship and animal husbandry skills 
• Experience operating tractors and farm machinery 
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility 
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude 
• Basic competence with smartphones and farm management technology 
• HT license and truck driving experience an advantage  
• Must have valid NZ working rights
