Job Description
We are looking for an experienced , practical and capable Individual to manage our dairy support blocks. One block situated 3km from Methven 150 Ha, the other block in Staveley 200 Ha The Methven block is irrigated with centre pivot irrigation. The run off blocks support our 685 Ha dairy farms at the base of Mount Hutt. We are looking for someone who is passionate about looking after and caring for stock and will treat the place like their own.

The role involves managing dairy young stock year round ( 600 R1’s and 600 R2’s ) at the Staveley block and wintering approx 800 cows in the winter months at the Methven block. Halter collars on cows.
Tractor work will involve fertiliser spreading with modern tractor and spreader using topcon and GPS steering, mowing , cultivations and drilling ( air seeder), mixer wagon, sucker tanker, and heavy rolling accross all farms. Other work may include digger and grader blade work and some fencing / maintenance work.
Experience with basic machinery maintenance and upkeep essential.
The role will be heavily supported by external contractors and staff from the dairy farms.
Travel between the blocks will be in the Farm Ute provided with the role.
3 bedroom house available , use of sheds/workshop by negotiation, school bus at gate, 3 km from Methven, Mid- Canterbury.
Roster Mon - Fri (5 on 2 off )with an on call every third weekend. Time off covered by managers/owners of dairy farm.
Must have a can do attitude and good stockmanship. Must be self motivated and able to work alone. Must have good communication skills to liase with the dairy farm managers.
