Fencer General

Tautara Matawhaura Māori Lands Trust is seeking an experienced Fencer General to join our progressive dry stock farming operation 30mins from Rotorua. This is a full-time position for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys working outdoors, and has a practical farming background.

Tautara Matawhaura Māori Lands Trust operates a progressive, large-scale dry stock farming business totalling 3,792 hectares (1,515 ha effective), running approximately 13,500 stock units. The Trust is committed to innovation, strong environmental stewardship, and developing its people

About the role

This role will primarily involve maintenance fencing, water reticulation, track maintenance, general repairs, seasonal stock work and helping to maintain properties to a high standard. Working alongside the Farm Manager and other team members, you will need to be capable of both independent work and contributing positively to a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

New fencing construction and fence maintenance

General farm maintenance of yards, gates, buildings, and infrastructure

Water system repairs and maintenance

Farm track maintenance

Weed control and property upkeep

Operating farm vehicles, machinery, and tools safely

Assisting with livestock handling and seasonal farm activities when required

Maintaining high health and safety standards

About You

The successful applicant will have:

Strong fencing skills and practical farming experience

Experience with general farm maintenance and repairs

A high standard of workmanship and attention to detail

Good communication and organisational skills

The ability to work independently and as part of a team

A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn

Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

A full New Zealand driver's licence

New Zealand residency
