South Coast Contracting Ltd is looking for a reliable and motivated Sprayer Operator to join our growing team. This position will start off as a fixed term contract for the first 6 months with the opportunity to move into full time employment for the right applicant as our ever increasing workload has developed into year round operations allowing us to now offer opportunities for full time employment.

This is a great opportunity to work with a well-established contracting business based in Balclutha and servicing the wider South Otago area. We take pride in delivering high-quality spraying services across a broad range of applications techniques in different locations around the district.

About the Role

As a Sprayer Operator, you'll be responsible for safely and efficiently applying agrichemicals across a range of rural, commercial, council and public Land. You'll operate modern spraying equipment, maintain machinery, and ensure all work is completed to a high standard while following health, safety, and environmental requirements. There is also opportunity to work within our sister company, Drone Spray Otago, working on drone spraying operations with the potential to train and develop into flying AG drones if the applicant has a desire to.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate boom and spot spraying equipment.
  • Mix and apply agrichemicals safely and accurately.
  • Carry out daily machinery checks and maintenance.
  • Complete job records and spray documentation.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience operating spraying equipment is preferred but training can be provided for the right person.
  • Current applicators certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Full New Zealand driver's licence
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours during busy seasonal periods.
  • Ability to accurately work out chemical volumes and mix these correctly 
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to think on the move and troubleshoot problems as they arise
