🌱 EXPERIENCED STOCK/BLOCK MANAGER WANTED – CENTRAL OTAGO 🐑🐄

Due to expanding our business, we are looking for an experienced, reliable and hardworking person to run our 535ha sheep and beef finishing and dairy support operation located 5 minutes from Omakau, Central Otago.  

This property will be run in conjunction with Matangi Station, an 11,500ha high country sheep & beef breeding unit.

Our operation provides a good level of infrastructure including Te Pari cattle yards, centre pivot irrigation, and embracing technology including Halter and Farm IQ.

The successful applicant will have solid practical farming experience, be confident working independently across a range of farm duties. You will have the ability to lead the day-to-day livestock management while contributing to planning, embracing innovation and helping drive the business forward. 

The role includes:

• Managing fine wool sheep and beef stock
• Dairy support
• Livestock management and animal husbandry
• Irrigation management
• Tractor and machinery operation
• Feed budgeting and forward planning
• Pasture management
• Fencing and general property maintenance
• Day-to-day farm operations
• Labour sharing between two properties

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

• Has proven farming experience
• Has strong stockmanship and sound decision-making skills
• Can confidently manage day-to-day operations
• Is organised, reliable and hardworking with strong communication
• Can work independently and lead by example
• Is confident with machinery and irrigation
• Has a full driver licence
• Good team of working dogs
• Takes pride in their work and is keen to contribute to the ongoing development of the business

🏠 Accommodation: 4-bedroom house available
💰 Pay: Salary based on experience
📅 Start date: November 2026
📍 Location: Omakau
