The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day livestock operations.  There is an opportunity to have genuine input into stock policies and management decisions, bringing fresh ideas and challenging existing practices with the aim of improving farm performance.

If the candidate has interest there is an opportunity to be involved in the Angus stud operation and further develop knowledge of stud breeding and performance recording.

The successful candidate will require:

·    Proven experience in sheep and beef farming, with sound stockmanship and animal husbandry skills.

·       Strong pasture management skills and a focus on lifting livestock performance, particularly sheep production.

·       The ability to lead, motivate and work alongside a small team.

·       Good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to contribute to planning and  budgeting

·       A willingness and ability to both do and oversee general farm repairs and maintenance.

·       A can-do attitude, an open mind and the desire to take on new challenges.

Manuwai is an established farming business with a long-term view to the future. The owners are committed to intergenerational pastoral farming and  supporting the successful candidate and providing opportunities for personal and professional development.

The property is located within a strong rural community, with the beaches and recreational opportunities of Mahia nearby. Nuhaka has a great primary school just a few kilometres away, making this an attractive location for families. Gisborne and Wairoa are both within travelling distance.

A comfortable farm house is provided, and remuneration will be negotiated to reflect the experience and ability of the successful candidate.

This is an opportunity for an experienced stock person looking to take the next step in their career, or an existing Stock Manager wanting the responsibility and challenge of running a substantial sheep and beef operation.
