Responsibilities:
Calf Rearing: Neonatal calf handling, Colestrum feeding, Bottle feeding, Bucket feeding, Shed cleaning and maintaining, Debudding, Dehorning, Ear tagging, Tattooing, Weaning.
Milking: Portable machine milking two times in the day with strip cup test, pre dipping and post dipping. Ensure clean milk containers and equipment.
Health Management: Daily herd visit for observation to identify the sick cows. Mastitis detection and treatment, Milk fever detection and treatment. Tick fever detection and treatment, Deworming, Vaccination, Low yielding cow observation, Bio security system management.
Feeding and caring for milking herd: TMR provided in the morning time and releasing cows for grazing to the paddock at after morning milking. Dry off pregnant cows with dry cow therapy.
Farm is known as Agro Focus Dairy Farm located in Kimbissa, Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. Milk 350 Jersey/ Friesian cross cows twice a day for the majority of the year. 250Heifers purchasing through the 20,000 Cattle Importation Project Implementing under the Ministry of Rural Economy Affairs.
