We are a family owned farm looking for an experienced Arable assistant to assist with production of cereals and small seeds.  Located 10 minutes west of Rakaia township, on 275ha fully irrigated land. We have modern equipment and infrastructure. What we require- Must be an NZ citizen/permanent resident or hold a current work visa. We require someone who has minimum 2 years experience on an arable farm. Duties include cultivation work, sowing, fertiliser spreading, servicing and maintenance of machinery and irrigation systems, spraying, harvest work and winter grazing for lambs. We are looking for someone who is physically fit, has a strong work ethic, reliable and able to work independently. Some knowledge of cropping farming is helpful, but a keen passion for our industry and working the land is essential!  A Class 5 licence is preferred but not essential. Otematata Station is a family run business that has a history extending 120 years. We run a Merino flock of 29000 sheep, as well as 500 cattle consisting of Hereford and Angus breeds across 40,000 hectares of Upper Waitaki high country. We are located behind the Otematata township so community amenities are minutes away. As a Shepherd you will be working as part of a team. This will mainly involve completing all the day to day stock work including mustering, yard work and animal health procedures under the direction of our Stock Manager.
