Rural Directions Advisory Services (RDAS) is an established technical advisory business delivering environmental outcomes to clients across the country. The RDAS team of professionals help their clients to understand the impact of operational decisions on-farm through the measuring and monitoring of information. This is achieved by utilising the latest technology such as electromagnetic high-resolution mapping and real time environmental monitoring via sensor ecosystems and drones. The business is based in Havelock North and shares its office space with the Rural Directions Recruitment & HR team who have been operating in the people business for over 15 years. RDAS are seeking a Farm Systems Technician to work independently on projects as well as providing support to their team of Land Management Advisors and the Business Manager. This interesting and varied role will suit an individual who is passionate about the agriculture industry and who is keen to further develop their technical farming knowledge and skills. Key responsibilities include: Using the latest technology including drone deploy and live sensors to provide farm data Collation and analysis of data into FarmIQ and Farmax Completion of farm environmental management plans (FEMPs) Farm mapping Group facilitation Administrator for the businesses’ social media channels This position requires strong relationship management skills and computer literacy along with an understanding of farming fundamentals and systems. A university degree in agriculture and a working knowledge of FarmIQ and Farmax would be beneficial however training will be given to the appointee. From time-to-time this role will also involve travel within New Zealand therefore flexibility in the working week will be required.
